Shipping and Transit Policy

1. General Shipping Terms

  • Processing Time: Expert Preparation: Due to the nature of this field and the need for meticulous handling, your antique item often requires expert packing and bespoke haulage arrangements. Please allow 3–7 business days for us to professionally prepare, secure, and package your item within the gallery.

  • Transit Time: Because antique delivery often involves specialized carriers or international freight, it is impossible to know the exact transit times before shipping. We cannot guarantee any specific delivery date. We will, however, be in communication with you every step of the way for the entire journey so you do not feel on edge or worried.

  • Shipping Rates: Shipping costs are calculated based on the item's size, weight, destination, and required handling. All quoted shipping fees are an estimate and may be subject to change upon final packaging. Any additional shipping costs, including re-delivery fees or storage fees from the carrier, are the sole responsibility of the buyer.

2. Service Commitment and Customs Assistance

  • Communication: We understand the anxiety of shipping high-value items. We commit to maintaining clear and constant communication throughout the process, providing tracking information and updates as we receive them.

  • Complete Service & Customs: Where possible, we do our utmost to offer a complete service. For international orders, we can often even assist in dealing with customs, brokerage, and necessary paperwork to help facilitate a smooth import process. However, we are not customs brokers, and the buyer remains fully responsible for all fees, duties, taxes, and final clearance.

3. Transfer of Risk and Title (The Key Protective Clause)

The risk of loss or damage, and title for the purchased item, transfers entirely to the buyer upon Artemisia Fine Arts & Antiques' delivery of the item to the common carrier (e.g., FedEx, UPS, freight company, etc.).

  • This means that once the item leaves our possession, it becomes the buyer's sole responsibility.

  • We act only as a facilitator for shipping arrangements on behalf of the buyer.

4. Insurance and Liability for Loss or Damage

  • Mandatory Insurance: All shipments are required to be insured for the full purchase price. The cost of this insurance is included in the shipping quote provided to the buyer.

  • Buyer's Obligation to Inspect: The buyer (or their receiving agent) must immediately and thoroughly inspectthe packaging and the contents of the shipment upon arrival and before signing the carrier’s delivery receipt.

    • If any damage, visible or suspected, is present, it must be explicitly noted on the carrier's delivery receipt.

    • Failure to note damage on the delivery receipt will be interpreted as acceptance of the item in good condition and may void the insurance claim.

  • Claim Responsibility: In the event of damage, loss, or theft during transit:

    • Artemisia Fine Arts & Antiques is NOT financially liable for any loss.

    • The buyer is solely responsible for initiating, documenting, and pursuing the insurance claim directly with the shipping carrier.

    • We will provide the buyer with all necessary documentation (invoices, proof of insurance, etc.) to assist with the claim, but our responsibility ends there.

  • No Refund for Transit Damage: As the risk transfers upon shipment (Section 3), Artemisia Fine Arts & Antiques will not issue refunds or accept returns for items damaged in transit. Recovery of funds for damaged items must be pursued through the insurance claim process by the buyer.

By completing a purchase with Artemisia Fine Arts & Antiques, you agree to these Shipping and Transit terms.
