About the artist:

One of Scotland's most significant cultural figures, Demarco was a major force in the introduction of avant-garde art to Scotland and has inspired and promoted generations of artists.

Throughout his life he has assumed the roles of teacher, promoter, gallery-owner, writer, lecturer and indefatigable proselytizer for the necessary healing energy of art.  As a draughtsman he has an excellent eye, and his compositional sense – combined with swift, deft once-only mark-making – singles him out as a recorder or landscape and townscape of great skill.
