Description

Artist Biography: Mario Sammut (1955 – ) is a Contemporary Maltese artist. His early artistic tutelage was carried out by Antoine Camilleri (1922 – 2005) and Esprit Barthet (1919 – 1999) where he studied drawing and painting. He continued his training with Gabriel Caruana (1929 – ) where he learnt ceramics. From 1989 onwards, Mario took part in various collective ceramics exhibitions in Malta and has also exhibited his works in Cyprus, Frankfurt, Sicily and Denmark. A number of his works can be found in public spaces, including Embracing Dancer a Bronze public monument in Xewkija produced in 2012. More recently he produced Ras il-Huta sculpted in marble found on the Marsascala Seafront in 2016. His works can be found in private collections in Malta and abroad. His work also forms the National Museum of Fine Arts in Malta. Description:
